National Arts Awards

The Premis Nacionals de Cultura, National Arts Awards, are the most important distinction in the field of culture in Catalonia. CoNCA as a tool of culture created by the Parliament of Catalonia and trained by industry professionals, is from 2009, the agency that grants these distinctions from the Generalitat of Catalonia.

The awards were established by the Catalan government in 1982 and are the continuation of the awards given by the Government between 1932 and 1938. In accordance with the decree 72/1995 of 7 March, each award is worth 18,000 euros and is annually given to individuals or organizations that have made outstanding contributions or activities in each of the respective cultural areas during the previous year. The award categories are architecture and public space, visual arts, audiovisual, cinema, circus, comic and illustration, popular culture, dance, design, literature, music, cultural heritage, thought and scientific culture, social projection of the Catalan language, theater, gastronomy, translation and a special award recognizing the professional and artistic career of a person throughout his life.
